MSM Congratulates Dr. Krystal Mills, Recipient of The American College of Gastroenterology’s Governo

Mills’ abstract is among only 5% to receive this noted distinction from the organization.
ATLANTA – OCTOBER 21, 2021 – Morehouse School of Medicine is excited to announce that Dr. Krystal Mills, resident, Morehouse School of Medicine, received The American College of Gastroenterology’s (ACG) Governors Award for Excellence in Clinical Research (Trainee) and is designated as an ACG Presidential Poster.
Dr. Mills’ scientific abstract, “Enrollment Rate of African Americans in a Colon Cancer Screening Trial at a Historically Black College and University Is Similar to Other Patient Populations,” was recognized with a blue Presidential Poster ribbon during the ACG 2021 poster sessions. This award is determined by the ACG Abstract Selection Committee. Each year, approximately 5% of accepted abstracts receive this distinction for high quality, novel, unique and interesting research. Five winners are selected from among all abstracts submitted. Three awards are given to Fellows or Members of the ACG, and two awards are given to fellows-in-training. The ACG Governors Awards for Excellence in Clinical Research are supported by the ACG Board of Governors, the state, and regional elected representatives for the College.

The ACG Governors Awards for Excellence in Clinical Research carries with it a prize of $1,000 for the presenting author. Recipients are encouraged to use the stipend to cover the cost of travel and lodging to present their paper/poster at the ACG 2021 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas, October 22 to 27, 2021.
