Kitty Cater-Wicker, MD ’92 appointed Director of AUCC Student Health Center at Morehouse Healthcare.

It is with pleasure to announce the appointment of Dr. Kitty Carter-Wicker, following the departure of Dr. Laura Joseph, as Director of the AUCC Student Health Center at Morehouse Healthcare effective December 2, 2021. Kitty Carter-Wicker, MD, affectionately known as Dr. Kitty, is a native Atlantan. She is the sixth of nine children who became interested in the healthcare field after watching her Grandmother Kitty care for the elderly in her neighborhood for many years. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Georgia (UGA) in 1984. While attending UGA, she worked at Grady Memorial hospital on the teen post-partum wards during her summer and holiday breaks. During that time, Dr. Kitty developed a strong interest in working with teens, primarily teens at risk for pregnancy. She received her MD degree from Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) in 1992. After completing a residency in family medicine at MSM, she joined the Maternal Child Health (MCH) team at MSM. During her tenure at MSM, she has served as the family medicine clerkship director, Co-PI on several training grants, a member of various committees, and a recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism award, Educator of the Year award, and the Dean’s award. For 19 years, she trained medical students in adolescent healthcare at the Fulton County teen clinic. Presently, she is the medical director for the Clinical Skills Center and the Clinical Skills Scholar for the family medicine clerkship.
During her spare time, she enjoys cruising, hiking up Stone Mountain, teaching the teen Sabbath School class at Berean Seventh-day Adventist church, where she is a lifetime member and volunteering for Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry. She is married to her high school sweetheart, Robert Wicker; they have three children, Robert D., Michael, and Kitty, and two wonderful grandchildren, Zy’nia and Michael.
